The ceremonial sceptre 'Sengol' was given to first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to symbolise the transfer of power from the British to India in August 1947. Thereafter, it was kept in the Nehru Gallery of the Allahabad Museum. Now, the golden sceptre will take pride of place in the new building of Parliament.
